Before I start any assignment, you and I will make a comprehensive agreement. Key terms will include:

• Exactly what material is to be translated
• The delivery date
• The file format and delivery method
• Fees: We will agree a fixed fee once I have seen all the material to be translated. Before then, I will be happy to provide illustrative, non-binding estimates
• Supplementary charges: these may arise, for example if additional work is commissioned during the assignment, or if unforeseen difficulties emerge during the assignment, and such like. We will discuss and agree on such matters as and when they arise
• Payment: will be due within 30 days of the date of my invoice. If I consider that advance and/or stage payments are appropriate, I will raise this matter before we sign the agreement
• Copyright in the translation: will be mine unless we agree otherwise
